The objective was to capture the scale, energy, and human engagement of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League while translating a complex, innovation-driven event into a compelling visual narrative. Our team delivered a comprehensive recap film that combined aerial views, live experiences, crowd reactions, and branded moments into a cohesive story designed for long-term digital use and media circulation.

Pre-Production

Pre-production began with a detailed briefing to understand the purpose of the A2RL 2024 Recap, key stakeholders, and priority moments. We studied the event layout, schedules, and audience flow to plan coverage across multiple zones, including fan areas, race environments, live performances, and VIP interactions. Shot lists and filming routes were finalised in advance, with approvals aligned to brand guidelines. This planning ensured our crew could move efficiently while capturing authentic moments without disrupting the event experience.

Production

Production took place across multiple days with a dedicated on-ground crew supported by aerial operators and photographers. We captured wide establishing shots of the venue, detailed crowd reactions, live entertainment, interactive fan zones, and official ceremonies. High-resolution cameras, stabilised rigs, and drone systems were used to maintain visual consistency across day and night scenes. The team worked in real time with event coordinators to adapt to schedule changes while ensuring no key moment was missed.

Post-Production

Post-production focused on shaping a clear narrative from high-volume event footage. Editing prioritised pacing, visual clarity, and emotional flow, balancing large-scale visuals with close human moments. Colour correction and grading were applied to maintain consistency across varying lighting conditions. Audio was cleaned, mixed, and layered to support the energy of the event without overpowering visuals. Multiple internal reviews and refinements ensured the final A2RL 2024 Recap met broadcast-quality standards and was optimised for digital platforms.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge 1: Large-Scale, Multi-Zone Event Coverage

The A2RL 2024 event was spread across multiple zones running simultaneously, including racing areas, fan zones, live performances, and VIP interactions. Capturing all key moments without overlap or missed coverage required precise coordination under time pressure.

Solution: We divided the crew into zone-based units with predefined responsibilities and real-time communication. This ensured continuous coverage across locations while maintaining visual consistency and capturing both planned and spontaneous moments.

Challenge 2: Inconsistent Lighting Across Day and Night Shoots

The event transitioned from bright daytime conditions to low-light evening environments, creating challenges in maintaining a cohesive visual look throughout the recap.

Solution: Camera profiles were standardised during production, and controlled exposure techniques were used on-site. In post-production, detailed colour correction and grading unified the footage, delivering a consistent and polished final visual tone.

Challenge 3: Condensing a Multi-Day Experience into a Concise Recap

The volume of footage generated over several days made it difficult to communicate the full experience without overwhelming the viewer.

Solution: We focused on narrative-driven editing, prioritising moments that represented scale, innovation, and audience engagement. This approach allowed us to deliver a clear, engaging recap that captured the essence of the event within a concise runtime.

Project Outcome

The final deliverable was a high-impact event recap film supported by a curated photo library. The A2RL 2024 Recap has been used across official digital channels, presentations, and media outreach to showcase the event's scale and engagement.
